About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool FC team as a Performance Nutritionist.

In this role you will ensure that the Womens team and the club is seen as a leading provider of the best possible approaches to player nutrition and female athlete health.


What will you be doing?

  • Develop and deliver player centred nutrition programmes to women's team.
  • Develop and implement innovative and evidencebased nutrition education sessions and resources to increase nutrition knowledge throughout the Womens department.
  • Implement strategies to support players' training and competitive programmes whilst demonstrating a comprehensive knowledge of the science that supports sports nutrition e.g. nutrition to support strength development, recovery, hydration, supplementation, use of ergogenic aids, recovery from surgery etc.
  • Carry out skinfold analysis of players and coordinate DXA scans along with reporting results to MDT.
  • In conjunction with the performance staff assist with player fitness and strength development, and body composition through nutritional interventions
  • Implement injury and rehabilitation nutrition programs for youth players as part of a team with other medical, fitness and coaching staff.
  • Coordinate collection and interpretation of player nutritional data
  • Attend match day to assist/implement nutritional provision and postgame recovery where appropriate
  • Implement, manage and monitor a sports supplement programme
  • Maintain records of all nutrition interventions and track measurable outcomes.
  • Keep uptodate on research relevant to sports nutrition and be willing to participate in research if the opportunity arises.
  • Develop performance menus to cater for players with various nutritional needs and allergies
  • Be professionally responsible for all aspects of service delivery
  • Contribute to the Club's sports science research strategy
  • Attend sports science and medicine departmental meeting

Who are we looking for?


To be successful in this role, you must have experience working with elite athletes within an elite sports environment as a nutritionist.

You'll have a postgraduate degree in sports science and a nutrition qualification, including holding a ISAK level 1 and UKAD clean sport adviser.


You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of nutritional support to athletes and coaches to support performance including having the ability to modify nutritional programs according to assessment data in conjunction with fitness, medical and other support staff.

You'll also have experience of developing and implementing evidence-based innovative ideas and putting them into practice.

You must have an understanding of the pressures and commitments required for young players involved in higher level youth football.

Your main base will be our AXA Melwood Training Centre.
