Stadler Rail Service UK Limited (SRS UK) is a subsidiary of Stadler Rail, Switzerland.

Stadler is establishing a reputation as a competitive provider of train maintenance services and has seen a number of successes since emerging in the UK in 2016.

In the next few years over 200 new Stadler trains will be joining the UK rail network.

We are delighted to announce that we're looking to recruit a dynamic and professional Head of Performance to join the excellent rolling stock engineering team at our Kirkdale and Birkenhead North Train Maintenance Depots.

As the focal point and key member of the department's senior management team, you'll be charged with enhancing the performance of the current class 50X EMU fleet, as well as driving the growing performance regime of Merseyside's brand new state of the art Class 777 fleet.


HEAD OF PERFORMANCE

YOUR TASKS

  • Managing the resident performance team to ensure effective and efficient customer service delivery
  • Achieving the fleet performance targets set by the contract, internal metrics and known adopted industry standards (PPM / MTIN)
  • Focussing the team to achieve engineering excellence, exemplary standards of work, 'getting it right first time quality and above all else, demonstrating elevated safety values
  • Supporting and developing the team through a combination of coaching, mentoring and performance management skills
  • Building and maintaining excellent, cohesive relationships with our customers and colleagues
  • Leading from the front, every day, by adopting Stadler's leadership and company values, demonstrating excellent behaviours and inspiring those around you
  • Responsibility for complying with and communicating the business's vision and implementing and maintaining SRSUK's business policies
  • Taking part in contract interface meetings for rolling stock activities, especially in the technical, performance and warrantyrelated fields
  • Daily interface with our customer's technical manager and or deputies, contract manager and fleet engineers, working collaboratively to attain exemplary performance standards
  • Execution of performance, training and QA activities in accordance with our contracts
  • Delivering an efficient and effective service, wholly focussing on excellence for the customer
  • Providing managerial oncall support to our customer

YOUR PROFILE

  • HNC or HND qualification in either an electrical or mechanical engineering discipline
  • Extensive knowledge of rolling stock maintenance and performance enhancing measures
  • Experience and knowledge of the operational railway
  • Minimum 2 years of managing in a rolling stock production and/or performance capacity
  • An elevated level of IT competence in MS platforms such as Excel and PowerPoint and a preferable understanding of industryrelated maintenance management software
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment, making good definitive decisions whilst performing to stringent timescales
  • To demonstrate a customer driven attitude, focused on diligence, attention to detail and quality
  • Flexible approach to the needs of the business with an unwavering willingness to support colleagues
  • As part of the management team, it is preferable to have experience of managing at a senior level, but you must be a strong, inspiring and decisive leader
  • Be able to maintain standards in a changing environment, promoting and effectively steering the change
  • A proven ability to understand complex production designs, reports, recommendations whilst being able to complete technical investigations to a high standard
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead complex discussions with all key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to inform, negotiate and persuade all levels of the business
  • Proven capability to establish, lead, coach and motivate a multiskilled team to deliver performance and technical best practice methodologies, whilst at the same time developing the skills of the team
  • Fiscal experience of budget management
  • Ability to understand and interpret industryrelated legislation, product improvement guidelines, NIR's, health and safety law and human resource management governance
