Reporting to the Projects Manager and directors of the Company Buyer will be responsible for the procurement of goods and services according to company need and demands of our building /construction projects.

Working in close collaboration with our site Manager, Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and Site Foremen, this key role will ensure the procurement and timely delivery of goods and services required by the business.

The ability to negotiate competitive prices, commercial terms and ensure on time and budget delivery is essential for this role.

Liaising with preferred and specified suppliers, you will manage the competing demands of long-lead items and real-time demand from our construction sites.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to collaborate with site personnel, design teams, suppliers, subcontractors and clients, will be required.

You will be self-motivated and comfortable working within a fast-paced, friendly team environment. This role may be suitable for an individual with previous trades experience.

  • Proven track record in bestvalue procurement ensuring timely ontime delivery in line with build programs and budget
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills to optimise pricing and commercial terms
  • Ability to read and interpret project drawings and specifications
  • Ability to forward plan for multiple sites and prioritise workload across longlead and real time demands
  • Excellent interpersonal skills strong relationship builder and communicator
  • Takes individual ownership and collaborates to deliver team and company objectives
  • Ability to undertake take offs would be an advantage
  • Ability to implement and manage sound business processes and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Required_
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Manufacturing Principles & Processes
  • Capable of reading technical drawing
  • Experience and/or education in procurement and inventory management
  • Preferred_
  • Working knowledge of purchasing techniques including RFQs, blanket orders and product demand discounts
Starting Annual salary - Negotiable
