This role is important as you'll be using your clinical and systems knowledge, experience and expertise to provide guidance and support to our hard-working frontline NHS team who provide assessments and interventions for patients with a wide range of dietetic needs.


  • To be responsible for the operational management of the Community Dietetics services which sit within the South Place portfolio
  • Line management of key senior staff within both services.
  • To support the Head of Integrated Care Health and Operational Director in ensuring that services are delivered efficiently and effectively to a high standard and that they meet commissioning and CQC standards
  • To support the Head of Integrated care Health and the Operational Director in the maintenance and continuous improvement of the financial and performance metrics which are required at both trust and system level.
  • To contribute to operational and clinical delivery and development of efficient, effective and high quality professional and coordinated care, capable of meeting all statuary, regulatory and NHS requirements.
  • To work closely with the Head of Integrated Care Health and Operational Director and be proactive in ensuring environments where staff can be actively involved in the development, delivery, management and leadership of services.
  • To undertake specialist patient assessment, treatment planning and interventions for patients within own professional clinical area
  • Communication
  • To have regular contact with internal & external stakeholders & will often need to engage over sensitive, highly complex, contentious & highly confidential issues.
  • Present complex, sensitive & at times contentious information to Commissioners in relation to service contracts, support bids for new tenders & senior & middle managers in relation to services & to staff groups in relation to change management & service developments.
  • Participate in relevant stakeholder working groups, services & initiatives to provide analytical advice & clinical expertise in relation to all business functions, service development & outcomes.
  • Liaise with other managers, clinical & non-clinical teams to share best practice in relation to all business functions.
  • Analytical & Judgement skills
  • Analyse, interpret & quality assure progress against deliverables across all services, analyse achievement against performance targets across portfolio of service contracts & strategic objectives.
  • Develop & implement qualitative & quantitative measures to determine performance in relation to continuous improvement culture. Report progress against strategy through personal representation at senior management forums & written reports to appropriate boards & groups of staff.
  • Working with senior managers & Commercial team, develop business & service development strategies, business plans & bids in response to published tenders, aligned to the Trust's strategic objectives.
  • Analyse & interpret all service performance data for areas responsible for, consider & formulate action plans to address areas of poor performance. Monitor & adjust those accordingly to meet service targets/objectives
  • Planning and organisational Skills
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to design & lead change projects to improve the efficiency & responsiveness of service, improving productivity & minimising cost, including effective improvement of performance against NHS comparators.
  • Develop plans in relation to & provide expert advice & guidance on business initiatives & innovative opportunities.
  • Responsible for organising & leading meetings to promote a proactive & inclusive culture within service.
  • Responsible for building a just culture within teams, leading with the intention to promote a proactive & inclusive culture & embedding this within service.
  • Participate in the management on call rota for NCH&C at level 1. This requires the ability to interpret information in a short time frame & to respond appropriately, taking into consideration the level of clinical & organisational risk.

  • Travel to a number of other locations during normal working hours to attend meetings & assess & treat patients.
