Batch Creation Operative

Overview:

Purpose of Position (Summary):
12 Month contract to cover Maternity Leave.

The Inspector is responsible for the full inspection of all garments/items to ensure they are fit for purpose. The role is to search out repairs, condition code, and record wash information onto Prima. The correct processing of clean kit is the standard we expect to contribute to the overall MSA customer experience.

Working alongside your other service colleagues, so that collectively the laundry is returned back to brigades within the agreed 7 day turnaround objective.


A successful Inspector within batch processing will strive to get it right first time, be positive in their approach towards others, remain professional and respectful at all times, plus, contribute to MSA's culture that upholds the core behavior values.

Tasks will be performed in a safe environment, actively participating into MSA's safety values and culture. The expectation is for all associates to adhere to all of MSA's safety requirements at all times.

Responsibilities:

How is it accomplished / Key performance Indicators?

  • Find batch (or create) to record wash and inspection details on Prima.
  • Read the customer information that you need to follow or be aware of.
  • Thoroughly inspect the garment or item using the method you have been taught.
  • Load relevant wash detail and any repairs found onto Prima.
  • Tag any repairs found and produce a repair ticket for the garment/ item.
  • Separate repairs from non repairs and ensure you have a system in place
  • Add an inspection tag, initialing and dating once you are happy to sign off as fit for purpose. Condition code and complete garments without repairs.
  • Add repair garments to relevant trolley awaiting move to sewing area
  • Complete and sign all necessary paperwork needed within the process
  • Completed garments added to relevant trolley awaiting move to dispatch area
  • Understand the 7 day turnaround process goal and the day order of work
  • Always escalate issues that prevent you from achieving the 7 day turnaround goal to a supervisor
  • Be prepared to move sections and complete other work when needed, that you have been trained on to increase productivity or efficiency.
  • Take part in a weekly housekeeping check /tidy up/ and cleaning exercise in your work area
  • Ensure desks are clutter free and clean
  • Ensure all equipment used is according to the training given and the specific requirements of the machines being used.
  • Complete "Near Hits" for all unsafe acts, resolving if you can, and escalate to the supervisor

KPI's

  • Mistakes or errors picked up throughout the process by another team
  • Maximum of 8 errors a month on tracked sheet
  • Customer complaints
  • A minimum of one near hit a month

Qualifications:

Experience required:

  • None, full training will be provided

Experience preferred:

  • Secondary School level
