The Centre for Health Economics (CHE) is a stimulating research environment, and one of the world's largest health research centres.

Established at the University of York in 1983, it was one of the world's first research institutes dedicated to the study of health economics, and rapidly established a leading international reputation.

In a ranking of the top 100 institutions in health economics in the world, the University of York has been ranked 7th and is the highest ranking European institution.

In 2018, CHE was named as one of the UK's 100 Best Breakthroughs for our significant impact on people's everyday lives by making healthcare systems fairer and more effective.

We are a community of over 90 staff and students, including research staff, support staff, and PhD students.

Role:

The Research Fellow will work within the Global Health team. They will support methodological work within the NIHR Global Health Research Unit. They will work collaboratively alongside project partners from the UK, Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa and India.

Over time they will contribute to a range of projects in methods for economic evaluation and quantitative methods work in Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa and India.


The duties of the role include (grade 6):

  • Work closely with experienced economic evaluation methods experts to provide methodological support to project partners within the NIHR Global Health Research Unit
  • Work with experienced economic evaluation and global health experts to contribute to the design of novel methodological work
  • Develop and foster collaborative working with international partners
  • Conduct individual and collaborative research projects
  • Contribute to capacity building through development and delivery of training materials in methods for economic evaluation

The duties of the role include (grade 7):

  • To participate actively in the planning and advancement of research programmes
  • To write or contribute to publications or disseminate research findings and to undertake peer review of research publications
  • To make presentations at conferences or exhibit work in other appropriate events
  • To decide on research programmes and methodologies
  • To develop ideas for generating income and promoting the research area, including contributing to the process of securing external funding
  • To develop and initiate collaborative working internally and externally

Skills, Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Experience of methods for economic evaluation
  • Evidence of strong quantitative skills
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for global health research
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for capacity building
