This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Financial Inclusion Officer to join our Income Services team, to be part of the delivery of in-depth specialist advice to customers on welfare benefits and appeals and play an integral part in our arrears recovery policy.

You will deliver a high quality and comprehensive service to customers identified as being at risk of debt or financial exclusion.


Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting customers with specialist advice and support in relation to Welfare Benefits, mandatory reconsideration and appeals, and attend hearings with customers where required
  • Managing complex cases which require a high level of welfare benefit expertise and knowledge
  • Liaising proactively with customers, offering individualised customer focused support and guidance on all aspects of financial inclusion, including budgeting, energy and debt, signposting to partner agencies where appropriate
  • Advising customers on maximising income and promoting financial capability and independence to empower them to sustain their tenancy
  • Leading on new initiatives and interventions to improve the financial inclusion services delivered to customers and assist with designing and delivering internal training and briefing sessions
  • Have a passion for people and be committed to providing a proactive service to customers
  • Be a strong communicator who is able to liaise effectively at all levels
  • Have experience of working with vulnerable members of the public experiencing financial difficulties
  • Have indepth knowledge of welfare benefits and welfare reform
  • Have a flexible and innovative approach and be keen to generate new ideas to improve services
