Mill Road Motors is a well-established, fast-growing and busy car business in the centre of Barnstaple. We sell used cars, with a specialism in German cars. We also service and maintain cars, and repair damage to bodywork and alloy wheels.


We now require an Office Administrator to maintain and update our Dealer Management System computer software (DMS), and manage all paperwork related to car sales and servicing.

The position is part-time, likely four hours a day, three days a week, although we are flexible with the precise work hours.


Role & Responsibilities

Specifically, the role will involve:

  • Inputting car sales details and costs onto DMS.
  • Adding supplier parts invoices and other thirdparty invoices onto DMS.
  • Updating Excel sheets with overheads/ general expenditures.
  • Reconciling supplier invoices against their statements, and chasing any credit notes due.
  • Reconciling all expenditure against bank statements, and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Managing all paperwork & filing
  • Ensuring the smooth running of the office, providing support to business owner as required

Skills & Qualifications

  • Numeracy: demonstrable ability with numbers; solid maths exam results
  • Computer literacy: comfortable with computers, in particular with Excel.
  • Business acumen: experience of working in another small business, and ideally with some knowledge of accounting procedures and concepts.
  • An interest in cars would be beneficial.

Personal Characteristics

  • Organised, methodical and efficient.
  • Detailoriented and focussed on attention to detail, with evidence of successfully completing tasks on time and under pressure.
  • Able to work independently, using their own initiative, whilst taking direction and guidance effectively.
  • Able to work under pressure; the office is a noisy place, with people in add out constantly, so you'll need to be comfortable working in such an environment without getting distracted.
