Sarcoma Clinical Advisor

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) is the lead centre for the NHSE commissioned East Midlands Sarcoma Service (EMSS) and comprises two discrete work streams: Soft Tissue Sarcoma (STS) and Retroperitoneal Sarcoma (RPS).


With an understanding of National Cancer Performance targets and a desire to improve the quality and timeliness of cancer care across the Trust the post holder will work in collaboration with Sarcoma Head of Service and Cancer Centre Lead nurse, and a variety of Sarcoma team across NUH And the region to lead on enhancing rapid diagnostics and cancer patient experience and identifying barriers to achieving performance compliance working with service improvement teams to overcome these.

The post holder will support the delivery and sustainability of rapid diagnostics principles from early identification to timely referral, symptom assessment, coordinated testing, timely diagnosis, onward referral and patient coordination.


The post holder will support the ongoing development and sustainability of the personalised care and support agenda within Sarcoma services across the Trust, building on previous work streams and embedding the use of Holistic Needs Assessments and care planning, Treatment Summaries, Health and Wellbeing initiatives and the use of risk stratified pathways and remote monitoring solutions.


The post holder will be expected to demonstrate how their input impacts on cancer performance across the trust and the benefits of a whole pathway approach to sustaining personalised care.

The post holder will be a strong clinical leader with experience in cancer services and proven involvement in change management, able to engage with all staff members involved in Sarcoma services provision.


The post holder will play a pivotal role in creating and delivering a strategic vision for Sarcoma services, ensuring that all patients receive timely, high quality and safe cancer care.
