An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Junior Sister to join us on our 35 bedded ward caring for babies, children and young people with a variety of medical and surgical needs. You must have excellent communication and team working skills, and be innovative in your approach. You should have a wide range of clinical expertise in paediatric nursing as well as experience working within the multidisciplinary team. For informal enquires or to arrange an informal visit please contact Rebecca Magan on alternatively email Main duties of the job Using your leadership and clinical experience, you will work with your team as the Nurse in Charge to ensure the maintenance of a high standard of nursing care at all times through the effective management of staff and resources. You will communicate effectively,be available for advice and support and act as a good role model, as well as liaising with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, co-coordinating all aspects of care in the best interests of the patient and family. You will act as a mentor, supervising the training of qualified and unqualified staff and assist junior staff to develop clinical and managerial skills. You will liaise closely with the Ward Manager and Matron recognising and reporting accidents/incidents, development and changes which affect patient care directly and indirectly. You will take appropriate action to ensure the safety of patients, including the delegation of patient care to nurses with the appropriate level of skill. You will assist in other Paediatric wards or departments in the Trust if the clinical situation or staffing levels demand. You will show commitment to sustaining and developing your clinical competence and professional awareness. This role will require you to work variable hours in order to fulfil the needs of the ward.
