Are you an experienced childrens nurse looking for part time hours (34.An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Junior Sister to join us on our 35 bedded ward caring for babies, children and young people with a variety of medical and surgical needs.

You will act as a mentor, supervising the training of qualified and unqualified staff and assist junior staff to develop clinical and managerial skills.

Assess the health and wellbeing needs of the child whose needs are relatively stable and consistent with others in the caseload.
Plan, deliver and evaluate programmes to address the childs health and wellbeing needs which are relatively stable and consistent with others in the caseload.
To discuss with the senior colleagues the development and changes, both nursing and medical, which affect patients directly and indirectly.
To ensure that nursing procedures are implemented and maintained in accordance with the policies of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
Supervise the training of qualified and unqualified staff in accordance to their level of competence, and assist junior staff to develop clinical and managerial skills.
To Act as a mentor for junior staff, to participate in teaching for all learners in accordance with their objectives, working closely with the Clinical Facilitators. Promoting the implementation and teaching of research based practice.
To attend mandatory training days.
To organise and provide training programmes in accordance with the identified needs for the department.
Contribute to quality improvement.
Promote peoples equality, diversity and rights.
To ensure that nursing procedures are implemented and maintained in accordance with the policies of the Trust.
To prepare the duty rota for staff within the Ward establishment. Maintain the custody of controlled drugs according to statutory procedure, ordering replacements, checking and administering all drugs according to the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust policy.
Contribute to the implementation of services.
Maintain and support the efficient use of physical and/or financial resources.
To collect information for and participate in studies to determine patient dependency and quality assurance
Be conversant with Trust and other policies, procedures and mechanisms in Place.
To help any other Paediatric Department if that Department is unable to remain self-contained because of its own demands.
To be aware of personal and professional development. To be conversant and comply with the Trust policies and regulations and attend mandatory lectures as instructed.
Participate in research projects where appropriate, report findings within a multidisciplinary framework.
To assist the Matron in monitoring staff performance.
Participate in staff appraisal and writing of reports.
To inform the Matron of staff failing to meet the required standard of performance, and taking appropriate action where required.

To lead the promotion of health and prevention of illness in all areas of childcare.
To assist the Named Nurse for Safeguarding in related issues including raising awareness of child protection.

To maintain a close liaison and relationship with the Community Nursing Team.
Experience at Band 5 within the speciality or related field for minimum of 3 years
Shift management experience
Risk assessment/reporting

Complaints handling
Experience and knowledge within the speciality or related field
Computer literate as appropriate to the post
