Blind Veterans UK – Equipment Delivery & Installation Technician

Sheffield, South Yorkshire (with travel across the UK, including regular overnight stays)

About Us

We're Blind Veterans UK, a charity that helps vision-impaired ex-service people from every generation rebuild their lives regardless of how or when they lost their sight. Founded in 1915, by Sir Arthur Pearson, to help the many veterans losing their sight after the First World War, we have supported those blinded in subsequent wars and military engagements, including the Second World War, and more recently, the conflicts in the Faulklands, Iraq and Afghanistan.

We're one transformational team that believes every vision-impaired veteran should be able to lead the life they choose.

We are currently seeking an Equipment Delivery & Installation Technician to join us on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Benefits

– Competitive salary
– 25 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays
– Generous pension contributions
– Interest free travel loans
– Employee Assistance Programme
– Enhanced occupational sick pay

This is a terrific opportunity for a customer-focused individual to begin a rewarding career with our impactful organisation.

You'll have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of our members, providing them with the tools they need to lead independent and fulfilling lives and empowering them to navigate their world with confidence.

What's more, we'll provide you with first-class training to ensure you can reach your full potential in your role as well as ensuring you have a great range of benefits to cover your personal wellbeing too

The Role

As an Equipment Delivery & Installation Technician, you will deliver, install and provide specialist training on vision impairment rehabilitation equipment for our members.

Contacting members, you will arrange and confirm home visits, plan routes and overnight stays and complete postal duties, including picking, packing, logging information on systems and completing administration duties.

You will also complete equipment troubleshooting callbacks to members who report faults.

Additionally, you will:

– Promote our recycling service to colleagues in other areas of the charity
– Provide equipment demonstrations, Q&As and training to colleagues
– Establish relationships with external organisations

About You

To be considered as an Equipment Delivery & Installation Technician, you will need:

– Experience working within a customer service focused role with direct customer contact
– Confidence in demonstrating and training members to use technology equipment
– A full, valid driving licence

We will provide you with full, comprehensive training on vision impairment and assistive technology.

The closing date for this role is 25 March 2024.

Other organisations may call this role Field Installation Technician, Maintenance Technician, Service Technician, Product Technician, or Technical Product Specialist.
