**Job description**:
Defence Transition Services (DTS) sits alongside the Veterans Welfare Service (VWS) and Integrated Personal Commissioning for Veterans (IPC4V), which together, make up the Veterans Services team in DBS. It provides information and support for those service leavers and their families who are most likely to face challenges as they leave the armed forces and adjust to civilian life (transition). DTS is one of the key outputs of the MOD’s Holistic Transition Policy as detailed in Joint Service Publication (JSP)100.

Joining DTS offers the opportunity to be part of a fresh, energetic team working in a high-profile, fast-paced arena that attracts significant media and ministerial attention. You will work at pace to achieve your objectives, support our collective aims and respond to the dynamic environment in which DTS operate.

Successful applicants will be provided with training to meet the demands of this role and are expected to maintain up to date and relevant skills and training whilst in post, both guided by Civil Service Required Learning and by independently identifying opportunities whilst in post.

DTS deliver a full range of transition support for its clients, working with them on a casework basis to provide tailored information and guidance that will support a successful transition. DTS facilitates access to the support our clients need based on a holistic assessment of the clients’ situation covering, amongst other aspects of life, healthcare, accommodation, finances, employment and wellbeing. We don’t deliver these services ourselves, rather we work within the MOD and the military, and partner with other government departments, local authorities, the NHS and trusted charities, helping clients to identify and navigate the support that’s available and streamlining and coordinating their access to it.

DTS caseworkers have a critical role, supporting our clients who may be Service leavers or their family members. They work as part of small, regional teams to ensure we deliver a progressive, high quality, value for money service that meets our clients’ needs and is in line with the policy intent (please see JSP100 for more details).

As a DTS caseworker for your region in partnership with your regional DTS colleagues, you will engage with the DTS client cohort to identify, understand and address the issues they face that may limit their chances of a successful transition from military to civilian life. You will take a holistic approach to casework, understanding all relevant aspects of a client’s life/support needs.

DTS caseworkers take pride in providing a high quality, t
