Main Duties of the Job

The Pre-registration trainee pharmacy technician apprenticeship appeals to those passionate about science and the treatment of common diseases.

As an apprentice under the guidance of registered Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians within multidisciplinary teams, you'll support in providing and preparing medicines for all patients' needs.

In your role, you'll demonstrate respect, maintain confidentiality, collaborate effectively in a team, uphold professionalism, ensure a safe work environment, and contribute to accurate preparation and dispensing of medicines.

This position is a fixed-term contract for 24 months as part of an apprenticeship/training program. The contract's status will be reassessed in compliance with the Trust's fixed-term contract regulations.

Applicants must have been UK, EEA, or EU residents for at least three years to join the apprenticeship training program.

Any secondment must be approved by your current line manager.

The apprentice allowance, as per Minimum Wage Regulations, will be provided for the first 12 months, with an increase thereafter based on the regulations for individuals aged 19 or above.

You must hold 4 or more GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English, Mathematics, Single Science, and another subject.

You will undergo a 24-month training program and study the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians as part of your apprenticeship.

This apprenticeship will involve collaboration with Bradford or Sheffield Colleges, requiring attendance on a day-release basis.

You will also compile a portfolio to evidence your learning and skills as per the apprenticeship framework.

The apprenticeship is slated to begin in September 2024, subject to successful completion of pre-employment checks adhering to NHS Employment Check Standards.
