Job Purpose

Reporting directly into the Head of People Services, the HR Operations Manager will lead the operational delivery of the full employee life cycle providing a high quality, accurate and responsive HR operations team, co-ordinating all workflow and ensuring that the operations team is actively engaged in the continuous improvement of all transactional HR activity. The HR Operations Manager will also work with the Head of People Services and members of the HRSLT on the operational delivery of key activities across the HR function, including reward, benefits, employee relations, talent acquisition, HR reporting and liaison with third parties, including our external flexible benefit provider. This is a fantastic opportunity to for HR professional to expand their knowledge and help build a high-performing HR function. Core Role Accountabilities:
  • Manage the HR Operations team of two HR Analysts. Support their learning and development, providing feedback and development plans.
  • Lead the delivery of HR Operations, ensuring accurate, high quality and timely provision of transactional HR services to internal and external stakeholders across the whole employee life cycle, appropriate business continuity plans are in place and ensuring that HR records and data are accurately maintained and in line with GDPR.
  • Facilitate the development and continuous review of standard operating procedures and service standards, ensuring that these are monitored, and action taken to ensure the high-quality delivery of HR services, assuring that all Service Level Agreements and KPI's are consistently met.
  • Lead in the development and enhancement of the UKIB HR system (Workday), in liaison with the wider HR, IT and PMO teams, to ensure that best practice processes are utilised, enhancing the employee experience and implementing HR best practice.
  • Create and manage processes within the HR Operations team to track employee relations cases, flexible working requests, relocation requests and international remote working requests. Support HRBPs and Senior HRBPs with basic employee and manager queries relating to policies, processes or general employment matters.
  • Working with the Payroll & HR Systems Manager and Head of People Services, manage and implement the annual pay review, annual bonus review and pay progression changes including system developments, communications and record keeping. Support the delivery of the Bank's annual flexible benefits scheme and ensure the communications to colleagues are timely and informative.
  • Work with the Senior HR Business Manager on tracking and monitoring HR budgets and projected costs as appropriate, including Occupational Health assessments and legal costs.
  • Support audit, risk and compliance monitoring as applicable and put plans in place to amend processes or procedures as required and create a process of continuous review.
  • Keep up to date with employment legislation, government financial statements and UK payroll/employee tax legislation. Provide regular feedback to the team and carry out training on new or changed processes and protocols, bring legislative changes to life, ensure the team is regularly refreshed and updated and impacted policies are kept up to date and relevant.
  • Be responsible for keeping key stakeholders and employees up to date on operational and reward elements of HR.
  • Support the wider HR team on all HRMI, reporting and tracking. Providing regular reporting to the HRSLT and CPO as applicable and wider business where required.
  • Delivery of projects and other duties as required, including supporting the Bank on development of AI within the HR Operations Function.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • A proven track record of managing a highly effective HR Operations function.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of key reward elements and previous experience of managing key benefit processes.
  • Proven ability to implement and deliver operations processes and procedures, ideally including previous experience of enhancing HR systems.
  • Effective leadership and experience to achieve optimum results from the team.
  • Ability to apply technical/specialist judgement to ensure service area objectives are achieved.
  • Ability to plan and organise a range of complex activities and priorities within a focused area of service.
  • CIPD qualified and/or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent standard of written and oral communication skills.
  • Numerate with the ability to interpret, manipulate and reconcile complex data from a variety of sources using tools such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong work ethic and professional attitude.
  • Effectively prioritise workload and the work of others to achieve department KPIs.
