Main duties of the job

Receive, assistand direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcareprofessional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

*Provide generalassistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image topatients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.

Be able to cover all reception position as necessary

Handling payments using a card machine for travel and non nhs work

*Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.

Deal with visits/requests

About us

Bringing general practices together to work atscale has been a policy priority for some years for a range of reasons,including improving the ability of practices to recruit and retain staff; tomanage financial and estates pressures; to provide a wider range of services topatients and to more easily integrate with the wider health and caresystem.

While GP practices have been finding differentways of working together over many years for example in super-partnerships,federations, clusters and networks the NHS long-term plan and the new five-year frameworkfor the GP contract, published in January 2019, put a more formalstructure around this way of working, but without creating new statutorybodies.

Since 1 July 2019, all except a handful of GPpractices in England have come together in around 1,300 geographical networkscovering populations of approximately 3050,000 patients. This size isconsistent with the size of primary care homes, which exist in many places inthe country, but much smaller than most GP federations. Around 50 networks,usually in very rural areas, will cover a population of less than 30,000, butmost arebigger than 50,000.

Job responsibilities

Computer

Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records Process patients changes of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area) Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines

Telephone

Have working knowledge of telephone/paging system Have knowledge of how to report telephone faults to telephone provider

Other Tasks

Clear rooms after surgeries Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm Any other tasks allocated by managers

Qualifications

Essential

Education and Training 2 GCSE grade A or B or C English and Maths NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care and willing to work towards Level 3 or equivalent A demonstrable commitment to professional development Willing to work towards GPA certification Experience Experience within an healthcare setting and/or similar role Experience in caring for others Strong administrative skills Knowledge/Skills Ability to provide quality patient care Excellent IT Skills Good interpersonal and communication skills Good organisational skills Good team working skills Qualities or Attributes An understanding and acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality Able to work on own initiative Able to work under pressure and remain calm Flexible and adaptable
