We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Operative for our Integral Business Line.

Role Purpose:


Reporting to the Grounds Team Leader, you will be in charge of the operational delivery and working with other team members to ensure the landscape is maintained to a high standard.

The grounds consist of a lake, meadows, sports fields and landscaped surroundings. You will be responsible for working to site RAMS and complying with JLL policies and guidelines.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Grass cutting across site.
  • Hedge trimming across site.
  • Shrub maintenance.
  • Flower bed maintenance including fertilizing, weeding, watering and mulching.
  • Maintaining irrigation systems.
  • Planting.
  • Tackling Pests such as Slugs/Snails.
  • Maintain and manage grounds equipment.
  • Maintain and manage grounds vehicles.
  • Gritting and snow management.
  • Leaf Blowing and Collection.
  • Dividing and Splitting plants.
  • Football pitch management.
  • Identify report and follow up faults, defects, complaints and potential hazards.
  • To review and update existing Risk Assessments and Method Statement periodically.
  • To review and update COSHH documentation and ensure team is briefed on changes.

Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Have good horticultural knowledge. RHS qualifications beneficial but not essential.
  • At least 2 years' experience of working in landscaping / gardening.
  • Hold C&G or Lantra certification for grounds equipment.
  • Hold C&G or Lantra certification for grounds vehicles
  • Tractor, ride on lawn mowers and ATV's.
  • Hold current PA1 & PA6 AW chemical licences.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills.
  • Have good organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise both proactively and reactively.
  • Understanding the requirements to deliver the highest level of service with excellent attention to detail, communication and people skills and the ability to operate in a confident, polite and approachable manner.
  • A demonstrable understanding of the FM operation and management of a range of services and contractors.
  • Flexibility may be required within your working hours to accommodate the operation.
  • Ability to provide services to the highest specification
  • Aptitude to build strong working relationships.
  • Able to motivate self and others with good success.
  • Knowledge of sports turf management beneficial but not essential.
  • Clean driver's license required.
  • Tree Surgery experience is beneficial but not essential.
