About the Role


This role provides leadership that results in a safe work culture and ensures compliance with all Company and site safety regulations, policies and procedures.

This role is responsible for the supervision, training and coordination of site personnel, reporting of all relevant site activities and managing the quality of work performed.


Principle Responsibilities/Duties

  • Visit client sites and liaise directly with key contacts, contractors and IVDC staff. Oversee jobs to ensure they are set up correctly, carried out safely and efficiently, and to assist in their successful conclusion on time and within budget;
  • Ensure appropriate safety equipment & PPE is worn and used by staff at all times;
  • Work with the Operations team to ensure all site resources (labour, machinery, materials, subcontractors etc) are effectively utilised, monitored and records updated;
  • Work closely with the internal Health and Safety Advisor and compliance supervisor.
  • Work closely with Supervisors in other areas of the country, to support each other, and ensure consistent practices across the whole of the UK
  • Be Responsible for maintenance & calibration of machinery & equipment, and ensure full records are kept;
  • Work with the Operations/Sales teams to plan work and solve 'work in progress' problems with engineers in addition to providing practical on site experience for future work;
  • Compile site audits, reports and competency assessments to cover issues including health, safety and the environment.
  • Ensure timely responses, actions and corrections to any safety issues
  • Identify skill gaps, training requirements and create and deliver toolbox talks, onsite training and instruction as required;
  • Liaise with the Operations Manager and Health and Safety Advisor to ensure that all required training is arranged and completed in line with the training matrix as well as highlighting further training requirements;
  • Report any breaches of Health & Safety or any other IVDC procedures;
  • Conduct full investigations and reports into incidents and accidents and on occasions may be involved in disciplinary hearings;
  • Be involved in the resolution of customer and public complaints to include investigation and liaison with all involved;
  • Monitor and coordinate Company vehicles, to include vehicle checks, van audits, investigation of damage and monitoring driver behaviours taking actions as required;
  • Liaise with National Operations Managersto coordinate the fleet in relation to services, repairs and allocation of vehicles;
  • Provide cover for the National Operations Manager as required;
  • Be involved in the recruitment of Engineers and General Assistants, coordinate starters and leavers including providing or overseeing initial training and competency testing and conducting probation reviews;
  • Accept out of hours calls and take immediate action if required
  • Carry out work at client sites when required;
  • Assist other staff as required and carry out any other reasonable task within your capabilities.

Experience, Knowledge & Capabilities

  • At least 5 years' experience within the drainage/plumbing industry is preferable;
  • 1 years supervisory/management experience required;
  • Knowledge of MS Office and ability to use computer systems;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Prior experience as a supervisor would be advantageous.
