Civil Enforcement Officer

Lycon is now hiring individuals to patrol Islington.


Traveling either by foot or cycling, you will have to identify contraventions of on-street parking and controlled parking zones either solo or as part of a team.

Work hours will be spent, mostly outside, walking or cycling up to 8 miles per day. You will be dealing with members of the public face to face and sometimes dealing with difficult situations.


Civil Enforcement Officers are the eyes and ears of the local community, patrolling areas, providing advice to motorists, residents and members of the public, whist enforcing road traffic orders and issuing parking fines.

You will play a significant rolein reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality through the enforcement of parking restrictions.

Shifts:

  • 40 hours minimum
  • 7.00am pm
  • Parttime hours: 8 hours
  • Full time hours: 12 hours
  • Working 5 out of 7 days on a rota basis including weekends and bank holidays

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Using a handheld device to record and issue Penalty Charge Notices to vehicles parked in contravention.
  • Check that relevant road lines and parking signs are accurate and report defective lines and signs for repair or replace.
  • Engage with motorists who have their engines idling
  • Working on your own initiative to ensure that motorists are able to park in accordance with the 2004 Traffic Management Act.

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent customer service skills to assist members of the public.
  • Selfmotivated individual with the ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • The ability to use a handheld computer device and attention to detail for accurate recording of data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people in an open and honest manner.
  • Ability to deal with difficult/stressful situations.
