If you are passionate about wanting to make a difference in people's lives and are committed to developing a community, then we want to hear from you.


We are looking for a friendly and welcoming
Cook to help us cover our community outreach programme offering substantial hot meals and drinks to our lunch club members, vulnerable adults and the homeless.

Meals prepared will include a 2-course meal, or a full English breakfast.

We are also looking to attract new customers in who may just want a cuppa and a chat with friends.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning healthy and nutritious menus
  • Ordering and shopping for food and other provisions
  • Preparing, cooking and presenting food to recognised standards & costs
  • Ensuring health & safety, environmental health & hygiene standards are maintained
  • Cleaning the kitchen & equipment after use
  • Supervising the work of volunteers supporting the programme
  • Assisting with the growth of the programme to reach out further
  • Good knowledge and experience of preparing and serving food in a commercial kitchen environment
  • Up to date knowledge of food hygiene requirements
  • Proven experience of dealing with the public and providing great customer service
  • The ability to work within the Christian ethos of The Salvation Army.
