An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic person to join our dynamic senior nursing team team.

We are looking to recruit to the post a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse at Band 6 to join our existing team . We aim to provide a 7 day senior cover for our department. This is an exciting opportunity for either an experienced gastroenterology nurse or a registered nurse looking to expand their practice as training will be given. Ward 8A is a 29 bedded Gastroenterology and Endocrinology ward caring for patients with illness and diseases that affect the gastrointestinal tract and other medical conditions including Diabetes .Our ward is fast paced and varied, providing the candidate with plenty of opportunities to gain and build on leadership skills and share knowledge gained in previous areas. The position involves working a flexible shift pattern of both long and short shifts over days, nights and weekends. Training and career development will be available.

The ideal candidate will have recent experience of working within the medical setting. They will have experience of multidisciplinary working and will demonstrate excellent communication skills. You will be part of a team that work closely together to provide the best standard of care, for young adults to those more senior in years.

Main duties of the job
  • Co-ordinate the workforce and running the shift ensuring effective and safe delivery of services within the Ward
  • Provide clinical expertise with up to date knowledge and skills.
  • Be accountable for managing the ward, whilst demonstrating the trusts values and behaviours.
  • Be responsible for leading the team in the absence of the Ward Sister
  • Work closely with members of the wider MDT to ensure patients are discharged without delay.
  • Support with the delivery of training to the team, undertaking appraisals and supporting the Ward Lead with absence management and employees learning competencies.
The successful candidates will need to work as an active member of the team at all times to deliver high standards of patient care, leadership and delegation, whilst maintaining a positive experience for the patients. About us What's the hospital like?
