We are looking for an experienced and passionate midwife to undertake the role of Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) Screening Lead, Fetal Medicine and SMH Antenatal Clinic Matron at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

The post holder will be an excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills committed to managing:

  • The implementation of the national screening programmes as well as providing clinical support to service users. This will involve working alongside a team of four Band 7 midwives and a Band 4 failsafe officer.
  • The fetal medicine service based on our two maternity sites with a team of five midwives and three maternity support workers.
  • The St Mary's antenatal clinic core team of Band 7 midwife, immunization team and maternal medicine lead midwife.


You will work in collaboration with a dynamic team of Senior Midwives including matrons, consultant midwives, Heads of Midwifery, and business partners to shape our maternity service.

As the ANNB Screening Lead/Matron, she/he, within the framework of Clinical Governance, lead the team in delivering the antenatal and newborn screening programme, ensuring the service is conducive to delivering high quality care and acknowledging the diverse needs of women and their babies.


The post holder will provide clinical expertise; professional direction and leadership to the screening coordinators, midwives and Maternity Support Workers within Maternity Services.


They will be responsible for providing specialist advice and support to the clinical teams so that maternal and fetal screening pathways and systems are in line with the National Screening Committee (NSC) standards.
