Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services is currently seeking a skilled Principal Primary HV Plant Design Engineer to join the team at Balfour Beatty in their Power division.
The Role:
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the HV Primary Engineering design delivery for electrical substation projects on the transmission network up to voltages of 400kV, overseeing the Design Engineers and Designers.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead Design team to deliver design to Customer specification requirements
- Check and approve HV plant design deliverables
- Ensure compliance with relevant National/International Standards and legislation
- Lead technical direction of the engineering team
- Identify all relevant standards and customer requirements
Design Responsibilities:
- Check and approve substation design deliverables
- To carry out Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE)
- Attend and Lead Design Review/Contract Close-out Meetings
- Liaise with Engineers, Designers, and Technicians on drawings requirements
- Examine contract documentation and establish the Company's scope of work
Key Skills and experience required:
- Several years of experience in a Design Office environment
- Experience in overall design and specification of electrical power systems
- Proven experience as a senior HV Substation Primary Plant Design Engineer
- Experience with BIM 360 and Microsoft Office packages
Essential experience:
- Detailed design of substation works
- High voltage experience
Desirable experience:
- National Grid exposure
- Autocad experience
- Team lead experience
