Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 or Band 7 Occupational Therapist with relevant experience in acute medicine to join our Admission Avoidance Team at NMUH. This team consists of Occupational Therapist , Physiotherapist , Nurses and Therapy Assistants. We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking and flexible person who will be able to be able to cover across Accident and Emergency and the Acute Assessment wards. This role involves working across seven days as part of a seven day Rota. The Admission Avoidance Team is part of the integrated Therapies Service and staff benefit from excellent learning opportunities .

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be:

Managing a complex case load using advanced clinical reasoning to support Multidisciplinary assessments and complex discharge planning /admission avoidance .

Will be a key member working in the Admission Avoidance Team and work jointly with the other Band 7 Therapists and Nurse to ensure smooth running of the Team and on-going development of the Team.

Part of a seven day service providing comprehensive assessments to facilitate timely discharges and prevent admissions from Accident and Emergency and associated short stay units across the hot floor.

Responsible for supporting and supervising junior staff within the team and students on placements.

Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council Documented evidence Continued Professional Development of relevant specialist knowledge and skills

Desirable

Member of relevant interest group. Member of RCOT. Undertaken post graduate study equivalent to M level study relevant to the area of practice.

Experience

Essential

Experience at Band 6 level in Acute Care rotations or specifically in Emergency Ambulatory Care setting Experience of writing and delivering in-service training programmes. Completed the following core rotations (acute medicine, older peoples acute care, neurology/ stroke, surgery & orthopaedics Experience of supervising qualified & non-qualified staff, including participation in personal development reviews Experience of clinical governance initiatives

Experience across a range of NHS sectors , Secondary and Community Services
