About The Role:

Are you passionate about shaping effective HR payroll operations and leading teams towards success? Join our Payroll Operations Team as HR Team Leader and play a pivotal part in guiding our dedicated team towards delivering exceptional HR services.

What's in it for you:

You'll take on a dynamic role, leading a team that plays a critical part in Dorset Council's payroll operations.

You'll join a supportive and collaborative service, where you'll make impactful contributions to shape and drive improvements in HR services for both internal and external customers.

There will be plenty of opportunities to grow and advance within the HR department, as you contribute to strategic projects and initiatives.

You'll have the opportunity to positively impact service improvement, making a difference by seeking customer feedback and implementing necessary changes.

What you can expect to be doing:

In this role, you'll lead and oversee the service delivery of our Payroll Operations team, ensuring the timely and accurate payment of salaries and payroll related payments to third parties.

You'll manage all aspects of team performance, including recruitment, learning and development, and performance management, as well as fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment through leadership, coaching, and effective performance management.

You'll be providing high-level technical advice and guidance to team members, resolving complex issues as well as reviewing current practices and implementing system solutions for optimal service delivery.

Your technical knowledge will see you accessing and utilizing our HR systems effectively, using complex spreadsheets to optimise reporting and service provision.

About you:

To be successful in this role you need to have the skills and attributes to work effectively with other teams within the HR Service, ensuring all teams meet the necessary deadlines for ensuring payments are made on time.

We are looking for someone with the management skills to lead this small team as well as the innovation to explore opportunities for process improvement and automation - ensuring the work of the team is delivered in the most effective and efficient way possible.
