Title: Internal Controls Lead

Reports to: Head of Internal Controls

Location: Bury, Lancashire (Head Office)

Salary: Competitive

Main purpose of role: To collaborate with the business, finance, and digital teams within the Group to enhance the quality of the controls environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the controls managers in working with the business, Group IT, and Multichannel teams to identify enhancements in controls and ensure timely remediation of control deficiencies.
  • Lead the controls stream on Business and IT projects.
  • Assist in the end-to-end internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) program.
  • Oversee the tracking and reporting of ICFR control deficiencies.
  • Document key financial processes from start to finish, identify risks and controls, and create a suitable matrix.
  • Aid in implementing the internal controls framework in new acquisitions within the Group.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Accounting qualification – ACA/ACCA or equivalent
  • Audit experience, with a focus on controls testing preferred
  • Familiarity with and a solid understanding of internal controls over financial reporting and controls testing
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to build trustworthy and credible relationships at all organizational levels and across different teams
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Understanding of IT systems and operations is beneficial
