This is a
Regional Data Privacy Advisor position in Chevron's Global Privacy Office and will report to the Regional Privacy Manager.

The Global Privacy Office (GPO) is responsible for Chevron's enterprise data privacy program, and itself sits within the Privacy and Cybersecurity Law Team which additionally includes Chevron's privacy and cyber attorneys.


Responsibilities for this position:

  • Provide day to day privacy compliance advice to all assigned reporting units.
  • Take work direction from the Regional Privacy Manager and collaborate closely with other colleagues in the GPO who are dispersed across a wide range of global locations.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable privacy legislation in your designated region (e.g., CPRA, PIPEDA, China PIPL etc.) as well as having a grounding in the core concepts of Europe's GDPR.
  • Work on new privacy regulation readiness projects and partner with the Regional Privacy Manager who will lead these efforts.
  • Partners with Privacy Counsel to determine impact of privacy laws.
  • Undertake business process assessments (ROPAs) and data protection impact assessments, using the latter to counsel business stakeholders on risk/harm mitigation planning.
  • Work with colleagues in the GPO to monitor and act upon incoming data privacy inquiries, incidents, and breaches.
  • Develop and deliver data privacy training to company personnel.
  • Provide feedback on any specific local privacy program requirements to the GPO Strategy team.
  • Monitor and report on data privacy metrics for designated reporting units.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in law, IT, or business/finance or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience (for senior advisor roles) or 02 years' experience (for advisor roles) in operational data privacy work, ideally with a multinational company.
  • Familiarity with data privacy, network security concepts, technologies, and practices
  • Proven skills in providing pragmatic daytoday advice to business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • IAPP Certification such as CIPP/E, CIPM or CIPT
  • Information Security Certification such as CISSP or CISM

Other Considerations:

  • Willing to travel internationally, if required
