An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) Coordinator to support the CEO, trustees and staff in delivering outstanding services for the largest older peoples' charity in Somerset and North Somerset -
Age UK Somerset.

Hours:
Part Time, 21 hours each week

Salary:
£12,280 pro-rata per annum (£20,467 per annum FTE) rising to £13,140 pro-rata per annum (21,900 per annum FTE) from April 2023

Location:
Taunton office (some hybrid working may be considered after the training period)


Working as part of the Wellbeing Team, this role presents an exciting opportunity to lead on our CST group programme.


The programme offers enjoyable weekly sessions where group members take part in stimulating games and activities designed to assist those with mild to moderate dementia in maintaining their memory and thinking skills.

Other potential benefits include increased confidence and friendship which could lead to a better quality of life.


Displaying excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will be comfortable with the prospect of group work and have a flair for facilitating discussion and participation.

You may already have experience of planning and running a group.

Or perhaps you are just excited by the idea of leading creative theme-based sessions and possess an enthusiasm for the programme.

Nonetheless, you will be sensitive to individuals in a group setting and demonstrate compassion and consideration when dealing with different personalities and health situations.

In return, you can expect a rewarding role, a friendly work environment and great support from the team. Please note that you will require access to a motor vehicle for community-based work.

Main Duties

  • Attend relevant training for CST delivery
  • Create and plan new MCST groups in different areas of Somerset.
  • Act as Lead for CST programmes/ sessions etc
  • To create session plans for MCST groups making sure to incorporate the principles of CST
  • Monitor personcentred outcomes for the individual clients participating
  • Create work folders for clients accessing the service
  • Conduct Carer/client surveys
  • Respond to enquiries about the MCST service
  • Meet all reporting requirements, and requests for Case Studies.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Good standard of education
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience of running group sessions or working with people in a group
  • Commitment to attend and participate in induction and relevant training to achieve the knowledge required to deliver a quality service
  • Exploratory development and research with local leaders in related client centred group work eg: Alzheimer's Society's Memory Café; Somerset NHS Foundation Trust Memory Assessment service.
