Purpose of Role:


To assist and work with the Business Improvement (BI) Change, Governance and Risk Manager in providing professional expertise in the areas of operational, governance and security risks to respond effectively to existing and emerging risks which may have an impact on the effective delivery and rollout of projects.

To support BI Change, Governance and Risk Manager, and a wider BI team in recording, updating, and monitoring of risks in terms of risks identification, assessment in service delivery including digitalisation and transformation of exams products in the pipeline.


Main Accountabilities:


Works with the BI Change, Governance and Risk Manager in supporting the workstream change management activities liaising and communication with the BI strands, Portfolio leads and regions / the business, ensuring that regions and countries are ready to implement the agreed change and realise the business benefits making sure the change activities are properly planned and executed on time, with cost and quality targets met and in line with British Council policies and values.


  • Supports the BI Change, Governance and Risk Manager in documenting, updating various risk registers in a timely manner and developing consolidated risk and vulnerabilities register both online and offline.
  • Ensure BI risks and issues register is dynamic, follow up with risk / action owners and work with them to support the BI in implementation of effective operational risk management
  • Supports the BI Exams leadership team in delivery of BI's Key Performance Indicators, to improve reporting process
  • Manages and supports system security and maintenance system penetration testing and monitoring and tracking of postpenetration testing mitigation plan (i.e. vulnerability assessment register) making sure system owners taking accountability to manage and mitigate vulnerability risks in line with Corporate guidelines
  • Supports to embed standardised risk assessment and reporting process within BI and upward reporting process gathering information and sharing industry best practice for everyone to understand the importance of effective risk and control framework to bring efficacy and effectiveness in product and service delivery.
  • Gathers data from various sources to assist senior management team to make informed decisions
  • Records and manages project related expenditure in line with annual system penetration testing and building relationship with the service providers, testers, system owners and Application Development team
  • Assists the team in providing highquality training, guidance for BI team in the areas of risk and governance to promote risk aware culture, working with BI X
  • Develops peer/personal networks within and outside the BC to enhance knowledge in exams operations, policy, process, and transformation
  • Plans and prioritises own work activities to ensure effective delivery of diverse responsibilities and deliverables over a quarterly to annual time horizon

Role specific knowledge and experience

Minimum/essential
Good knowledge of technologies - Information technology and data management

Strong experience of working in project and programme management

  • Flexibility, independence, and initiative to perform successfully in a rapidly changing environment

Role specific skills

  • Experience of managing existing Exams systems and participation in development of transformation projects
  • Experience of planning and managing projects in a fastpaced operational environment at a management level
  • Experience of supporting large scale change programmes
  • Experience of providing or assisting professional training in the areas of risks, compliance, and governance
  • Experience of working with key internal and external stakeholders including managing contracts
  • Experience of working with data to identify trends for reporting
