Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a Business Manager, Governance and Assurance on a 3 months contract with a possibility of further extension.

Purpose of the role:

Responsible for the operational management of the business support functions for Governance & Assurance (G&A) delivering a high quality and innovative service. To lead on strategies that result in improved service delivery and establish long lasting efficiencies. Participate in the determination of the annual business plan and manage projects relating to business processes within G&A. Plan business services to support the strategic management of G&A, ensuring that service developments are sustainable and meet the objectives of the shared services model

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage business and financial systems, ensuring that these have an impact upon long term service plans. Adopt and implement business plans that create more efficient ways of working and cost savings for the service.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the unit against key indicators agreed in business and service plans. Responsible for collating management data and performance reports to cabinet. The post holder takes remedial action with senior managers and stakeholders to optimise value and performance.
  • Responsible for the development of new technologies, innovations and strategies to achieve efficiencies and streamline work processes across G&A.
  • Work with the Assistant Chief Executive, Governance & Assurance to identify opportunities to modernise the service and enable efficient ways of working across which incorporate digital by default.
  • Provide professional support and collaborative working with the Assistant Chief Executive, Governance & Assurance and the Senior Management Team on all matters relating to business activity, including change management, quality assurance, business improvement, project management and relevant strategic partnerships.
  • Responsible for the day to day operational management of support services, ensuring the provision of a professional support function across Governance & Assurance. The post holder is responsible for performance management of the business support team, including motivation, appraisal and individual development.

Requirements:

  • degree standard and/or relevant professional qualification
  • A detailed knowledge of Practice Management systems and process
  • A detailed knowledge of practice management standards as they apply to a professional legal/professional practice.
  • An in-depth knowledge of the relationship between performance management and continuous improvement.
  • An in-depth understanding of managerial concepts, practices and principles, including knowledge of project management, change management and strategic management.
  • Previous experience of working/managing within a professional practice.
  • Managing and delivering projects within financially constrained environment.
