University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) has one of the largest maternity services in the UK, providing maternity care across Derbyshire and into Staffordshire.

We want to provide woman-centred, family friendly care and offer a range of models of midwifery and obstetric care provision. This includes midwife-led care, continuity of carer models, and specialist care provided by our obstetric teams for women with more complex needs, as well as community midwifery services.

Are you a third-year student coming to the end of your studies and due to qualify in 2024 or a newly qualified midwife ? If so come and join our friendly team where we can offer you a supportive and established preceptorship program if you are newly qualified. As part of the preceptorship program, you will be allocated a named member of the team for support whereby we have an 'open door policy, so you can speak to us at any time. You will be given four bespoke study days per year for reflection, learning and improving the service. This is where we bring all our preceptors together and have speakers to talk about any specific areas that you are interested in, which gives you a voice. You are given a protected induction period and we are invested in supporting you in your transition to the role of midwife. We also have additional members of staff who can come in and support you clinically.

This is an exciting new era on our maternity improvement journey, following a £5.4million investment into our services to strengthen our workforce, our technology and our processes, so that we can further improve what we do and deliver the best quality care to women and their babies. This is a great opportunity to join UHDB and make a real impact for the women and families we care for.
