CIMSPA is the professional development body for the UK's sport and physical activity sector, committed to supporting, developing and enabling professionals and organisations to succeed and, as a result, inspire our nation to become more active.

Together we're developing a vibrant, UK-wide sport and physical activity sector, with the highest standards of service delivery.

We are looking for an ambitious Youth Panel Member who has a passion for sport and physical activity, whether it's being a participant or working within your local leisure centre.

We are eager to get a diverse variety of input to help shape and challenge our strategy.

Ultimately you will act as a champion for young adults supporting CIMSPA's board of trustees by advising, advocating and driving CIMSPA's work.

You will be an ambitious individual, that can gain the focus of a room and present your thoughts or opinions in a professional manner.

We are looking for a Youth Panel Member to bring their unique perspective to the table, challenge the status quo and drive new ways for CIMSPA to engage with young persons.

As a Youth Panel Member, you must fulfil your role whilst meeting CIMSPA's values and essential behaviours which support us in being a high-performing and successful team.


With this opportunity, there are a few caveats for the role, you must:

  • Be between the age of 16-2
  • Attend 5 youth panel meetings per year.
  • Be able to attend the main board of trustees meeting on a rotation basis.
  • Undertake any premeeting preparation that may be required.
  • Demonstrate and live by CIMSPA's values and behaviours.
Although our meetings have been remote in recent years, we are now starting to meet face-to-face again.

These meetings usually take place at our office in SportPark at Loughborough University though on occasion can be held in other locations, so your expenses for travel and accommodation will be covered.


Key tasks include:

  • Be an advocate of CIMSPA and the youth perspective.
  • Act as representatives of local and regional areas.
  • Engage with opportunities to advocate the youth perspective through networking, involvement in relevant projects and forums
  • Attend appropriate events on behalf of CIMSPA.
  • Be open to obtaining and sharing the feedback and perspectives of other young adults, not limited to but with a focus on the sport and physical activity sector.
  • Challenge the mindsets and perspectives of CIMSPA's executive team and the board of trustees.
  • Be able to work with others and respect their ideas and backgrounds.
  • Support CIMSPA's vision and mission.
  • Act as a youth advisor, utilising current experiences.
  • Plan, review and implement decisions relating to the Youth Panels' strategic objectives.
  • Review and ensure any report actions have been completed by CIMSPA's executive team or board of trustees.
  • Review CIMSPA's strategy and where appropriate making suggestions and recommendations to ensure it is applicable to young adults.
  • Provide support and where appropriate make recommendations to the CIMSPA executive on operations and processes to ensure the youth perspective is considered.
  • Advocating the youth perspective to influence decision making, policy, practice, and the strategic direction of CIMSPA.
  • Review and complete annual reviews of all youth panel activities and their performance.
  • Demonstrate CIMSPA's values and behaviours in all tasks.
