We are currently recruiting for a team of support workers to work with a man who has sustained an Acquired Brain Injury.

Our Gateshead based client is highly motivated to maximise his recovery through a rehabilitation programme provided by a team of neurorehabilitation professionals.


In order to support the client to progress his rehabilitation goals, there is a need for skilled support workers to support the client and work closely with the Team Leader, brain injury case manager and the rehabilitation team.

Experience of working alongside rehabilitation therapists and supporting clients with rehabilitation goals would be helpful. However, this position also gives the exciting opportunity of one-to-one training with experienced rehabilitation professionals.

Understanding of the rehabilitation process is required and this is reflected in the rates of pay offered.


You will also be required to support our client in accessing community social, exercise and leisure activities, and the care of his small dog.

You will be required to support him to undertake domestic duties in his home.


Alongside the rest of the team, you may be required at times to cover additional shifts to assist with staff absence.


Client personal details:


Your role as Support Worker is to provide support and rehabilitation activities under the guidance of a Multi Disciplinary Team within your client's home and the community.


Your client is a 54 year old man with some cognitive and physical difficulties following an acquired brain injury living in his own home in Gateshead.

You will be responsible for working collaboratively with the therapists involved in the client's rehabilitation.

You will be expected to reinforce the therapy programmes and to encourage and motivate your client in day to day rehab activities.


You will have bespoke training from the therapy team and gain all the rewards and challenges of working with your client and his family through his rehabilitation journey.

The client enjoys walking his dog, attending the gym, playing darts & going to the cinema.

  • To adhere to the Support Plan and rehabilitation programme.
  • To encourage, motivate and enable your client in a range of rehabilitation activities
  • To travel with, accompany and support your client in agreed community activities.
  • To treat your client as an individual with specific needs and wants, rights and responsibilities.
  • To support your client in some meal preparation.
  • To support your client with some domestic duties as appropriate.
  • To respect the privacy of your client and maintain client confidentiality in all situations.
  • To work sensitively within your client's home.
  • To be able to work individually and as part of a team.
  • To be well motivated and demonstrate initiative.
  • To liaise closely and communicate with the client's Team Leader/Case Manager and the rehabilitation professionals involved.
  • To attend and participate in review meetings as requested by the Team/ Leader
Case Manager.

  • To attend and complete any relevant training as agreed with the Team
Leader/Case Manager.

  • To participate in regular supervision from the Team Leader/Case Manager.
  • To complete any other reasonable task within your abilities as directed by the
Team Leader/Case Manager.

  • To adhere to the scheduled rota/timetable and to immediately report any difficulties with attendance.
  • To retain any appropriate receipts for reimbursement

  • To complete accurately daily reports/records.
  • To report all accidents/incidents to the Case Manager, as appropriate, and complete all required paperwork.

Essential Qualifications/Experience

  • You must have the ability to work on your own unsupervised, or as part of a team.
  • You must have a full UK driving licence and be a confident driver.
  • You must be prepared to have business class insurance on your own vehicle if you have the use of one for work.
  • Experience of gym attendance.
  • Experience of dog care.

Desirable experience

  • Experience of working alongside rehabilitation therapists and supporting clients with rehabilitation goals would be helpful. However, this position also gives the exciting opportunity of onetoone training with experienced rehabilitation professionals.
