We are pleased to offer this development role to an enthusiastic, committed psychological therapist/psychologist to contribute to the development and delivery of psychological services in the Psychosis and Bipolar Disorder Pathway in Herefordshire. This will be based at the inpatient rehabilitation ward in Hereford (Oak House), with close links with the other parts of the pathway (EIPS and AOT primarily).

Herefordshire is at the forefront of Community Transformation, and Oak House forms part of a highly performing Psychosis and Bipolar Disorder Pathway.
  • Part time working.
  • There is opportunity for some blended working (on site/from home).
  • Dependent on experience you will be appointed at band 7 or band 8a. If appointed at band 7, upon successful completion of the development plan you will move to a band 8a. Copies of both job descriptions are included in the supporting documents.

Main duties of the job This post is integral to the provision of NICE recommended psychological therapies for people with diagnoses of psychosis or bipolar disorder. You will work alongside the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, as well as inpatient rehabilitation team colleagues. The post holder will provide specialist individual interventions (CBTpbd and Family Interventions), alongside other models. The post will involve offering individual and group psychological therapies, individual and group supervision/reflective practice and consultation within the team. There are many opportunities for providing (and receiving) training, as well as working with colleagues across the pathway more broadly. You will be actively supported to develop service initiatives and trauma informed practice, as well as engaging in audit and research as appropriate, in line with key national and local priorities and with local partners.   • Behave consistently with and promote the values and beliefs of the organisation.

  • Experience required specific to the role and clinical area
  • Experience of multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working
  • Experience of conducting clinically relevant research/audit/service evaluation
  • Significant experience of supervised practice
  • Experience of assessing and providing a wide range of psychological interventions to a wide range of patients presenting with a full range of clinical severity
  • Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for a patients psychological care and treatment

  • Some prior experience of supervising

  • Able to meet the travel requirements of the post.
Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and national guidance and their implication for clinical practice
Skills & Abilities Essential
  • Highly developed and effective communication skills, both oral and written, including ability to communicate complex, highly personal and sensitive information.
Qualifications Essential
  • Post Graduate doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent Applied Psychology qualification), as accredited by the B.P.S
  • Registered as Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC OR equivalent e.g. a recorded / registered qualification in one of the following - nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or a psychological therapy
  • Plus Further post graduate qualification OR training and experience in a relevant model of psychological therapy that meets accreditation training standards
  • Significant experience working as a psychological therapist in mental health services with people over the age of 18 years and demonstrating the required competencies
  • Is a member of a professional body, such as BABCP, BPS, NMC upon commencement of the post
