**JOB PURPOSE**

To assist the Clinical Psychologist and Therapy Team in enhancing and developing the psychological services provided by Meadows Psychology Service, supporting the service to meet the psychological, emotional and relational needs of the young people Meadows Psychology Service support in their work.

The post holder will be an integral part of the team and will be responsible for several key administrative tasks: keeping up-to-date information, literature searching, supporting data collection, and completion of audits. Clinical work may include structured assessments (including assessments of mental health, risk and cognitive and daily functioning) and providing short-term interventions.

The post holder will be involved in service improvement initiatives and support the continuing development of the Therapy Service in accordance with the needs of Meadows Psychology Service. The post holder will be expected to work effectively and manage a number of competing tasks which at times can be unpredictable, risky and emotive. As such the post holder will be expected to balance autonomy and initiative whilst recognising the limitations of their role and experience.

This role would be ideal for anyone that is keen to pursue a role in clinical, counselling or forensic psychology or other therapeutic modalities.

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

The role is likely to include, but not limited to:
1. Information gathering: Administering psychological tests with young people and staff, including scoring and reporting of results. They will also be responsible for management of databases, basic statistical analysis and administration activities.

2. Assessment: Where instructed to carry out or contribute to psychological assessments, including cognitive assessments, risk assessments and functional analyses. Where appropriate to contribute to development of psychological formulations.

3. Multi-Disciplinary working: To attend meetings where instructed and to offer psychological information on a young person’s care.

4. Teaching and training: To contribute to the training package provided by the therapy service across the organisation.

5. Research and development: To contribute to service evaluation, auditing, literature searches and the implementation and maintenance of the Meadows ARC model of care (Blaunstein & Kinniburgh, 2010). To support the process of collection and reporting of outcome measures.

6. Administrative responsibility: Supporting the production of psychological and therapy reports including word processing, photocopying and formatting of reports. To also assist with marketing, promotion, archiving and other administrative tasks associated with the service.

7. To deliver and collect standardised assessment measures and to support the clinical psychologist to develop and maintain a large database of assessment information

8. General: To participate in regular clinical and managerial supervision and to maintain accurate records of clinical activities as required by the service. To also contribute to the intellectual and academic environment of our therapy team (literature searches, provide updated information from relevant websites etc.).

1. Degree in psychology at 2:1 or above

2. Eligibility of graduate membership of the BPS

3. Experience of working as an assistant psychologist or research assistant

4. A warm, compassionate and empathic approach to interpersonal relationships

5. Experience of working with (young) people with complex presentations

6. Skills in building relationships with individuals who may be difficult to engage

8. Ability to reflect with a natural curiosity and openness to learning/developing

9. Experience of varied research methodologies and database management

10. Able to demonstrate good organisational skills

11. IT skills and knowledge of information management systems.

Desirable Criteria:
1. Motivation to pursue further applied psychology training (e.g. clinical, counselling, forensic psychology or other therapeutic modalities)

2. Skills in working creatively with young people

3. Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team

4. Experience of working with children looked after/in care

5. Experience of administering a range of psychometric tests

6. Experience of undertaking therapeutic interventions
