Are you passionate about delivering the highest quality service to a young person in collaboration with a team of other professionals?

If so, we have an exciting new opportunity within Affinity Trust Children and Young Peoples service to work as a Skills Mentor.

We are looking for a Skills Mentor to work with a young person with high functioning autism and mental health needs within a bespoke personalised education and health provision.

The Skills Mentor will support the young person to expand his experiences in the world, working on vocational and life skills alongside his education team.

The young person has reduced independence due to his mental health needs and past traumatic experiences and so does show some reluctance to progress.

The young person has benefitted from a bespoke package within his own office space which has been in operation since September 2021.

During that time the young person has been able to develop strong relationships with his now established education team and enjoys music, computer science and Japanese and we are now looking to increase this creative package to include a Skills Mentor to join our lovely team.

  • To mentor and support 1 young person in his working environment, in the community, sometimes in the home and other support service setting. By modelling good practice, you will provide guidance to promote the young person's independence through travel training, daily budgeting and promoting health and fitness activities.
  • Be committed to encouraging and aiding the young person to become less isolated and more engaged with activities in the community.
  • To mentor the young person to identify future goals and aspirations by working creatively thinking outside the box alongside his education team.
  • Support and manage the young person's emotional wellbeing and resilience.
  • You will be a positive role model and you will bring Affinity Trust's values to life and share our passion and commitment to always strive to find creative ways to enrich the lives of those we support.

  • As a member of the Affinity Trust team you will have access to a wide variety of vocational learning and development opportunities from our industry leading L&D team.
This is a part time role working 14 hours a week across 2 days.

Being a driver with access to your own vehicle is essential to the role as there will be some travel across Yorkshire.
