Job Title: Specialist Mental Health Practitioner at Greenwich CAMHS Adolescent Team

Main Duties of the Job:

  • To co-ordinate and deliver individualised care packages/programmes for children and young people
  • To provide specialist mental health advice and consultation
  • To engage therapeutically with young people and their carers in various settings
  • To plan and facilitate appropriate therapeutic interventions, including group work
  • To assess and manage risk in children and young people
  • To communicate risks effectively with medical staff, professionals, and families
  • To contribute to service delivery and development, focusing on the CAMHS care pathway
  • To work closely with school-based and community health professionals

Job Responsibilities:

  • To be trained and confident in the use of evidence-based interventions and routine outcome measures
  • To co-ordinate and manage a caseload of children and young people with emotional health difficulties
  • To provide specialist mental health advice and consultation to school-based and community staff
  • To actively promote emotional health and well-being within schools
  • To contribute to early help and prevention services
  • To mentor students and less experienced members of the discipline
  • To engage therapeutically with clients and their carers in various settings

Clinical:

  • To work as an autonomous specialist practitioner in the clinic setting
  • To develop specialist programmes of care for clients and their families
  • To provide clinical advice regarding assessment, risk assessment, and treatment
  • To teach and respond to the needs of clients and their carers
  • To demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities and cultural diversity

Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • RN Mental Health
  • CQSW/CSS/DipSW or equivalent Social Work qualification/Dip or BSc OT
  • Specialist training relevant to Child & Adolescent Mental Health
  • Registration with relevant Professional body

Experience:

At least 2 years post-registration experience in mental health, including CAMHS

Skills, Ability, and Knowledge:

Ability to work autonomously and maintain own workload

Effort and Environment:

Demonstrable ability to work under pressure and respond to emergenciesFlexible approach to client intervention and work environment
