North Tyneside Specialist Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) have a vacancy for an Independent non medical prescriber to join our Nurse Led Team .Your role will be to provide specialist assessments and nursing interventions, primarily to children and young people who have been referred in for an Neurodevelopmental assessment and those open to the teams ADHD clinic. . You will support on developing the Nurse led model in North Tyneside and the wider CAMHS . In addition to your specialist NMP role you will support the development of more junior staff, and contribute to the wider leadership of the team.

Main duties of the job To develop clear treatment protocols and pathways for the management of children and young people with complex and persistent mental health problems i.e. ADHD,ASD and other conditions in partnership with CAMHS colleagues.

To maintain key worker responsibility for a defined case load of children and young people with persistent and complex mental health difficulties.

To lead in conjunction with medical staff on the development of nurse led clinics around the prescribing and monitoring of medication.

To be responsible for medication dose adjustment within defined protocols and parameters with supervision from medical staff.

To record and monitor patients physical observations and to take bloods for basic monitoring purposes when required.

To participate in child protection conferences and care team meetings as appropriate.

To participate in supervision systems which currently operate within CAMHS. Job description Job responsibilities To contribute to the development of an effective, locality based mental health provision for children and young people with persistent and complex mental health problems including children with mild to moderate learning difficulties, in partnership with the CAMHS multi disciplinary teams.

To contribute to the development of nurse led clinics.

To increase the awareness of the needs of this client group through the sharing of clinical knowledge and expertise using a model of consultation /liaison/ teaching/ training for professionals.

To assess current services available for families within the North Tynesidearea, to identify any gaps in service provision and to help develop services to meet the needs of this client group. Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • 1 st Level Registered Nurse
  • Specialist post registration qualification i.e. CAMH degree or equivalent mental health experience
  • Nurse prescribing Course
  • A recognised teaching and training qualification
  • Registered Mentor
Desirable
  • Additional post registration qualification in a specific therapeutic modality
  • Has completed the Clinical skills course
Experience and knowledge Essential
  • Substantial experience of working in child and adolescent mental health services at band 6 or above
Desirable
  • Experience of training in psychological therapies
Other Essential
  • You may also need to travel between Trust premises as required for the performance of your duties.
