Maidstone, Kent, United Kingdom Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust Full time

This is a fixed term appointment for a new GP in our Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) To confirm this vacancy is for candidates who are registered as a GP on the GMC register. The Urgent Treatment Centre is located within the Emergency Department at both Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and treat patients with minor injuries and illnesses such as infections, sprains or bites - less serious injuries that are not critical or life-threatening but still require urgent attention.

The rota table shown on the job description is the current GP shifts we have available at each site. You will be expected to choose at least one shift from the below. No other hours/days will be considered.

There is a comprehensive induction and educational programme in the Department for all new doctors, with dedicated teaching for the junior GPs cross-site, and a monthly teaching day for Middle Grades cross-site. In addition, we host 2 Higher Specialist Regional Training days and 1 ACCS Regional Training day per year. There is an active Simulation programme, which ED consultants participate in. New consultants will be expected to participate fully in Educational activities, including Educational and Clinical Supervision of trainees and substantive doctors. About us

The Trust provides acute hospital services to a population of over 460,000 in West Kent and North East Sussex, and some specialist services to a considerably larger population. Its major hospitals are the Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury, and the Maidstone Hospital.

Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in September 2011. This 512 bed acute hospital is the first NHS hospital in which all wards are composed entirely of single side rooms. The new facilities include a state-of-the-art Emergency Department, where we see around 100,000 new patients annually. The hospital has a full range of diagnostic services, and provides all acute medical, surgical, orthopaedic, and women's and children's specialities. Tunbridge Wells Hospital was successfully appointed a Regional Trauma Unit in 2012, and includes all trauma, surgical and Critical Care back-up services.

Maidstone Hospital is a modern 410 bed district general hospital. It provides general hospital services to a catchment population of around 220,000. The Emergency Department sees around 90,000 attendances a year.

  14. To undertake an annual appraisal leading to a personal development plan as outlined in the Trust Appraisal Policy. You must collect and maintain sufficient evidence to support the appraisal process and your GMC revalidation. The appraisal will inform the study leave and job planning processes.
  15. To undertake an annual job plan review as outlined in the Trust Guide to Job Planning.
  16. You are required to take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by what you do while at work. You must adhere to Trust IRMER Regulations.
