An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated individual to be the Paediatric Deteriorating Patient Education Lead.


You will be a clinically credible nurse experienced in paediatric acute or critical care nursing, who is able to utilise clinical expertise and specialist knowledge to deliver high quality education to staff enabling them to provide evidenced based care to the acutely unwell deteriorating ward-based patient.


You will have proven leadership and negotiation skills and will be able to demonstrate effective communication with all members of the multi -disciplinary team a vital component of this role.


A recognised children's critical care qualification is required and/or significant acute emergency pathway experience, and you will be an APLS/EPALS provider.


Quality Improvement and Patient Safety:

Take a leading role in influencing service modernisation in relation to the acutely ill/deteriorating child to address issues related to failure to rescue.


Leadership:

The post holder will be responsible for the further development and leadership of the Paediatric Education programmes surrounding the deteriorating patient.

The post holder will initiate and implement change effectively in response to clinical or organisational demands

Clinical:

Be an expert clinical practitioner, acting as an expert resource for the MDT, specialty, directorate and Trust in regard to the recognition and rescue of the deteriorating child.


Education:
Teach on nationally accredited courses in relation to the sick
child/resuscitation of the child, and delivery of the Nottingham Children's Hospital nursing and medical induction programmes.

Identify areas of advances to clinical practice and develop associated competency frameworks and teaching programmes for skill attainment in relation to the critically ill/ deteriorating ward patient.


This is an exciting opportunity to work with the senior and divisional nursing teams as well as in conjunction with the Paediatric Critical Care Outreach Team.
