The Role


Do you want to work in the innovative and ever-changing world of crypto and digital assets? We are seeking a motivated lead associate to join the Digital Assets Sector Team.

The Sector Team performs an integral role in defining the FCA strategy for crypto as a whole, designing and implementing the data strategy, identifying and managing risk, training, external engagement, horizon scanning and proactive identification of trends amongst other things.

There is ample opportunity to engage directly with the industry, trade associations and firms, work with data and analytical tools, communications and the industry to influence and drive forward a number of focus areas including supervision and policy.


The role is a great opportunity to make a difference in the fascinating world of crypto and digital assets and to develop in-depth knowledge of the sector.


The Digital Assets Sector team sits in the Payments & Digital Assets MAPs Department, alongside the Payments Sector Team, the Digital Assets Policy Team and the Payments Policy Team and works closely with a number of departments in the FCA, including the Digital Assets - Interventions Department.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Lead on workstreams to shape and develop the strategy and the delivery of the strategy across the FCA for crypto, including a data strategy
  • Contribute to delivery of an effective engagement strategy both internally and externally
  • Effectively engage with key external stakeholders including other regulators/authorities and trade associations
  • Maintain good relations with wide range of internal stakeholders, including specialists, Intelligence and other sector teams
  • Analysing information and making recommendations based on the information
  • Developing team members through projects and delegating effectively to deliver on multiple priorities
  • Be an active part of a high performing team

Essential

  • An ability to analyse information and contribute to the development of an appropriate FCA wide strategy to tackle harm
  • Good organisational skills and being able to demonstrate the capability to manage a variety of competing priorities and issues
  • Problem solving and strategic thinking skills with sound judgement
  • Strong stakeholder management skills dealing with a range of parties
  • The ability to build a strong network across the organisation and have confidence in working at all levels across the FCA to deliver
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively
  • Willingness to learn and develop, taking on new responsibilities and adopting a flexible and pragmatic approach to your work
  • Ability to work with and through others to achieve effective results
Desirable

  • An understanding of the crypto market or relevant technologies
  • Understanding of the FCA supervision model, risk management and prioritisation approaches
  • Good understanding of the Financial Services Industry
  • A track record of implementing strategies
