We are pleased to be expanding our well-established team to continue providing a trust wide prehabilitation service. The successful post holder will hold a leading role in the on-going development and running of a multidisciplinary prehabilitation service with the unique opportunity of being the first occupational therapist within the prehabilitation team. The prehabilitation service sits within an innovative wider multidisciplinary team with many developmental opportunities for the post-holder such as level 2 psychological skills training and regular clinical supervision from the clinical psychology team to support the development and evaluation of the OT role within prehabilitation. Main duties of the job The successful candidate should be a dedicated, skilled and motivated clinician with wide breadth of experience including cognitive assessment, frailty screening and fatigue management. - Therapy Registered Member of HCPC Post graduate
- Post graduate courses relevant to the clinical speciality
- Evidence of Masters level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant clinical area
- Member of special interest group
- Member of RCOT
- Experience working at band 6 or equivalent level.
- Experience of service development and audit.
- Broad ranging experience in the oncology, neurological and surgical setting.
- Experience of clinical education of students, developing educational programmes, teaching and presenting
- Experience of multi-professional working
- Previous experience working at a band 7 level.
- Experience in working within a prehabilitation setting.
- Experience in working in an outpatient setting.
- Experience of using clinical governance framework to monitor and improve patient care quality.
- Knowledge of cancer treatments and consequences of treatment related side effects. Including frailty, fatigue, cognitive impairment, psychological distress etc
- Knowledge of risk factors for morbidity and mortality post-surgery, and how optimisation may mitigate these
- Knowledge of person centred care, positive psychology, behaviour change and self-management
- Knowledge of health issues affecting the local population and strategies in place to support improvement in these areas
- Demonstrate understanding and appropriate application of principles surrounding risk management, Trust's policies of data protection, equal opportunities and health and safety
- Awareness of Local and National Cancer Directives including how prehabilitation fits with personalised care
