Job Title: Band 6-7 Occupational Therapist

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced occupational therapist to join our team at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a specialist interest in prehabilitation and a strong background in oncology or surgical care.

About the Role

The Band 7 occupational therapist will lead the prehabilitation service for the Trust, working closely with the physiotherapist, dietician, and support workers to provide a high-quality evidence-based prehabilitation occupational therapy service. The post holder will be responsible for managing a clinical caseload within the BHRUT surgical cancer pathway for all cancer types, using evidence-based/client-centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in the designated setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the prehabilitation service for the Trust, working with the physiotherapist, dietician, and support workers to provide a high-quality evidence-based prehabilitation occupational therapy service.
  • Manage a clinical caseload within the BHRUT surgical cancer pathway for all cancer types, using evidence-based/client-centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in the designated setting.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of the service, including audit and service evaluation, data collection, and establishing clear outcome measures to inform future development of a sustainable model of care and associated business cases.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree/diploma in occupational therapy and H.Registration.
  • Proven clinical experience in the relevant field during Band 6 rotations in an acute hospital setting and substantial post-graduate experience.
  • Leadership training and experience in prehabilitation.
