Band 6-7 Neurosciences Occupational Therapist (Developmental Role)

Band 6 salary HCAS progress to Band 7 Salary HCAS once competencies met.

Full time 37.5hrs per week

Main duties of the job The Royal Free London is excited to announce this unique opportunity for a motivated individual looking to further develop their skills and specialise as a Band 7 Neuro-Occupational Therapist (OT).

The successful candidate will receive regular supervision and support to meet set competencies required to fulfil a Band 7 neuro-OT role. The post is rotational, happening on an 18 monthly basis. The 18-month rotations enable further skill development and expertise in the assessment, treatment, and management of complex neurological conditions across the patient pathway, leading teams, and driving quality improvement in critical care, sub-acute neurorehabilitation, including stroke and neurology, and inpatient neurorehabilitation. The rotations are based at Royal Free London main hospital site and the Neurorehabilitation Centre based at Edgeware. You will be well supported by neurotherapy Band 8 Clinical Leads across both sites.

  • BSc Degree in Occupational Therapy or Diploma or equivalent
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Occupational Therapy registration
  • Evidence or portfolio of post-graduate continued development in specialist clinical area
  • Membership of specialist interest group e.g. SSNP

Experience Essential
  • Knowledge and clinical experience in stroke/neurology
  • Knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches for the management of patients with acute, chronic and progressive neurological conditions
  • Experience of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary working
  • Previous experience of staff & student supervision/ clinical education
  • Experience of leading a team
  • Experience of clinical audit and/or research
  • Experience of teaching to groups / other healthcare professionals, patients, and carers
  • Evidence of active involvement in service development & contribution to change within the workplace
  • Evidence of post graduate training / study in clinical area
  • Highly effective written communication skills
  • Able to manage own clinical caseload by prioritising effectively and support others to do the same
