Job Title: Band 7 Occupational Therapist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

Are you based in North West London or considering a move to the city? Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is offering exciting secondment opportunities in Neurosciences and Stroke services. These roles are ideal for a band 7 OT eager to enhance their clinical skills or a band 6 OT ready to take on new challenges. You'll work alongside experienced band 8 therapists and have access to research and innovation projects supported by our senior therapy leadership team.

Join our teams at St Mary's Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital, where you can work in Major Trauma & Neurosurgery or Stroke Hyper Acute & Acute Stroke teams. Depending on your preference, this opportunity can also be available as a fixed-term contract. As a successful candidate, you'll deliver top-notch Occupational Therapy to patients with diverse neurological conditions, while honing your expertise and leadership in a nurturing environment.

Receive regular supervision from lead therapists to boost your clinical and professional growth. We prioritize your personal and professional development through our performance review system, in-service training, and external courses.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide neuro occupational therapy assessment and treatment to patients with acute, chronic, and life-limiting conditions.
  • Ensure high-quality clinical care for patients under your management and those under junior staff, focusing on stroke and neuro-trauma patients.
  • Lead the in-patient neurosciences, stroke, and trauma team, collaborating with other band 7 neuro specialist OTs and clinical therapy leads.
  • Support team development and serve as a positive role model for all members.
  • Build strong relationships with Clinical Team Lead Therapists from other services and be part of the band 7 peer group for OTs in neurosciences.

Education/Qualifications:

Essential

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Health Professions Council registration
  • CPD evidence, especially in the relevant clinical area
  • Clinical Educators course completion or equivalent

Desirable

  • Membership of Professional Organisation
  • Membership of special interest groups related to the field
  • Management or leadership training

Experience:

Essential

  • Recent clinical experience in the relevant area
  • Broad clinical experience at Band 6 level or equivalent
  • Worked effectively within multidisciplinary teams and with external agencies
  • Experience in multidisciplinary goal planning and care pathway development

Desirable

  • Prior Band 7 or equivalent experience
  • Team leadership experience
  • Utilized clinical governance framework for quality improvement

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Essential

  • Advanced knowledge and skills in assessment and treatment for relevant conditions
  • Clinical reasoning and problem-solving abilities
  • Evidence-based practice in the therapy area
  • Sound judgment and decision-making in challenging situations
  • Competent IT skills

Desirable

  • Familiarity with recent NHS developments affecting service provision
  • Proficient in computer skills for presentations and data analysis
