Roles requiring PVG Membership

Please note that from 1 April 2023, when a role necessitates PVG membership, candidates will need to cover the cost. This applies only to roles with a full-time salary of £30,000 and above (such as Teaching roles and positions at Grade 11 and above).

The Council will cover the initial PVG membership cost, either £18 for existing members of the PVG scheme, or £59 for non-members. This amount will be deducted from the employee's first FULL month's salary payment.

Overview of the Role

To provide high-quality education to assigned students and actively contribute to the school's professional and communal environment concerning students, staff, and relevant external organizations within the SNCT agreements.

Minimum Requirements for the Role:

Appropriate teaching qualification

Full GTC (Scotland) registration in the relevant subject/sector, or eligibility for such registration

PVG scheme membership

Demonstrated Abilities of the Role:

· Ability to effectively teach the complete curriculum in the relevant subject or sector, including curriculum development

· Ability to organize and manage classes by planning and preparing for teaching and learning

· Ability to assess, document, and communicate students' progress to adapt various teaching and learning strategies

· Ability to ready students for examinations and qualifications, and if needed, support with their administration

· Ability to contribute to maintaining discipline and addressing the broader needs of the school

· Ability to participate in school and council planning and enhancement procedures

· Ability to enhance and update knowledge and skills, and assist in the professional development of colleagues, including new and trainee teachers
