Principal Geotechnical Engineer

to join our highly qualified team in our Birmingham office.

You will be expected to:

nLead and undertake assignments in the UK and overseasnAct as assignment manager overseeing technical delivery, commercial aspects, financial controls (forecasting & budgeting), planning, resourcing and troubleshooting.

nAssist Market Sector Leader to source and develop business opportunities, producing tenders, and build client relationshipsnMonitor staff time and budgets against assignment programme and agree appropriate actions where necessarynAssist in the management of the design process that may include other related design disciplinesnAssist with coordinating design as part of an internal team and liaising with external associated professionals and our clientsnSupport in sourcing and developing business opportunities, securing business and developing client relationshipsnAssist with the organisation and management of the technical staff, acting as a line manager, supporting staff recruitment, training, CPD and implementation of 'Best Practice' and proceduresnSupport Graduates through the processes and requirements for completion of their Chartership

To be successful, you will have the following qualifications and be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge in some of the following areas:nProfessionally qualified and Chartered Civil Engineer, ideally with a post graduate qualification in a geotechnically related subjectnExtensive knowledge of Eurocodes and other relevant national and international industry standards, contracts, methodologies and proceduresnSubstantial experience at Assignment Manager and Designer level with a proven capability and record of managing and delivering assignments to programme and budgetnAble to manage the legal and contractual aspects of Engineering contractsnStrong knowledge of geotechnical and engineering geological processes and design, with a particular emphasis on data interpretation, design & analysis, construction and advanced numerical modellingnDetailed geotechnical design experience including deep and shallow foundations (vertical and lateral capacity, settlement), deep excavations, basements, retaining structures, earthworks, soil and rock slope engineering, ground improvement, seismicity and liquefaction and instrumentation and monitoringnGround investigation experience including design, preparation of tender documents, supervision, interpretationnGeomorphologic, coastal and maritime experience would be beneficialnExcellent team working skills; able to lead, contribute to and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams

in a matrix environment
