Background:
The Property & Facilities Department (PAF) is responsible for providing a safe and efficient working environment for all University staff and students.
PAF manages all building services and the strategic development of the estate contributing to the delivery of City University strategic and operational objectives.
The post holder will assist with the delivery of first class facilities management activity supervising the post, portering and the grounds team.
Responsibilities:
The Portering Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Porterage staff and services, ensuring the provision of a high standard of service to the university.
These services include but not limited to:
Portering/Post - Room set-ups; office/furniture moves; waste disposal; delivery of goods-in including furniture, parcels and mail.
Domestic - Ground maintenance; general services stores; occasional ceremonial support.
Assessing and preparing working area schedules; ensuring appropriate number of staff are allocated to buildings; ensuring cover work is assigned on a day-to-day basis; covering vacancies with contract staff as required; delegating building or area tasking to the team as appropriate.
Staff administration including preparation of holiday & sickness records, signing in/out records; ensuring records are kept up to date; preparing recharges for departments for staff overtime and enhanced services.
Person Specification:
Excellent supervisory skills.
Experience of working within a busy portering and post team.
Experience in a customer service related role.
Good time management skills, including the ability to coordinate numerous tasks and work to deadlines.
Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload to ensure deadlines are met.
Ability to carry out manual handling duties.
