About Markets and Research Technology


Markets & Research Technology (also called TC2) is made up of 4,000+ colleagues across UK, US, India, Czech Republic, Singapore, Japan, and Hong Kong.

Responsible for all of the technology solutions required for the Markets front office trading. We cover all asset classes including Credit, Equities, FX, and Rates.

We partner closely with the heads of the businesses in order to deliver market leading platforms to meet our clients' needs.

Our trading systems provide stable, high-performance access to markets for our most sophisticated clients, we work on pricing systems that can quickly normalize and summarize trading state across multiple markets to inform traders and algorithms, and risk systems that can calculate business risk across a broad set of international products and firm holdings.

We build & deploy client facing tools via the Barclays web portal and mobile devices that provide the most up-to-date market monitors, analytics, research publications, and data products.

About Equity Derivatives Risk Technology


The Equity Derivatives Technology Team is responsible for supporting Barclays' equity derivatives business in both pre-trade and post-trade capacities including analytics, trade capture and sales.

We work in concert with numerous teams, to deliver seamless solutions for the bank's internal traders, allowing them to provide top-level service to our external clients.


Overall purpose of role


We are looking for highly experienced and technical lead to join the Equities Technology Team to lead EMEA Flow Pricing Technology covering both pricing, quoting and real time risk.

As part of Markets Execution Technology (ME) the role is primarily focused on Front Office but works with Middle Office, Compliance, Risk and other associated functions.


The role requires owning, developing and delivering both revenue generating and regulatory projects in addition to improving the existing system infrastructure and meeting new business demands to allow the businesses to execute on opportunities in the market.

As a senior technology leader you will be responsible for more than just your own team deliveries, but that of wider group across regions as well.

This will require a growth mindset and the ability to train, grow / mentor junior members both local as well as off/near-shore locations.


Key Accountabilities

  • You are expected to be the key stakeholder management point across the businesses interacting with trading, and sales teams as your primary stakeholders across the Flow Businesses.
  • You are expected to make technical decisions that require a strong understanding of the problem domain i.e. both deep technology and business product knowledge.
  • You are expected to collaborate and provide direction globally with the senior team leads to build technical solutions.
  • You are expected to drive and contribute to a globally consistent platform for the Flow Derivatives Businesses.
  • You are expected to work closely with your RTB partners to deliver a reliable and operationally sound platform(s) that serve our business.
  • You are expected to be the single point of contact for the EMEA Flow Business covering new product delivery, stability and strategic alignment.
  • You are expected to have a strong knowledge of software development methods, tools and standards and ensure the team complies with said practices
  • You are expected to adhere to Policies & Standards appropriate to the role outlined in the Code of Conduct and mandatory training.
  • You are expected to build and grow the global team over time to ensure the team is delivering on time and good quality software artifacts.
