Job summary:


The Defence College of Logistics, Policing and Administration (DCLPA) delivers training to all Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force service personnel in Supply, Distribution, Driving, Catering, Policing & Guarding and Personnel Administration.


The college is made up of 3 schools; Defence School of Logistics and Administration (DSLA) predominantly based at Worthy Down; Defence School of Policing and Guarding (DSPG) in Southwick Park; and Defence School of Transport (DST) at Leconfield.

The college headquarters is also based at Worthy Down - a newly built, modern campus in Hampshire.


This role sits within DSLA, providing support to the Work Force Career Management Department, supporting the team in a variety of business administration activity.

The department supports all DSLA permanent staff (military and civilian), but this role will be focused predominately on the military.


We are seeking applicants who are forward thinking, have an eye for detail and able to take the initiative by working proactively to complete their tasks.

Due to the variety of ranks of Service Personnel (SP), applicants will need to be effective communicators.


The position is advertised at 37 hours per week, and attendance to the stated site will be required, full time during training and then this can be reviewed.

The Career Management Administrator offers an exciting opportunity to work in a small, customer facing team, providing business administration services to our work force.


You will support the department to service our military personnel and civil servants with career/job related matters in Worthy Down Station.

We are looking for an individual to act as front of house for the department, initiating and maintaining annual reports, maintaining the workforce and appraisal excel spreadsheets as well as job specifications.

You will collaborate with the team aiding their decision making by ensuring our records are accurately maintained. You will also support department with wider business administration activity when the opportunity arises.


We are seeking applicants who have initiative, and due to the variety of ranks of Service Personnel (SP) and grades of Civil Servants (CS), applicants will need to be effective communicators and confident to develop trusting working relationships with a variety of customers.

Managing priorities will also be key in this ever-changing and fast paced environment.

The postholder will need to conduct the role professionally and with discretion owing to the sensitivities that can arise through a business administration workload.

Due to the varying tasks that the job holder will undertake, organisational skills are key.


We can offer the successful applicant a fantastic opportunity to undertake an MOD funded Apprenticeship in Business Administrator Level 3 qualification.

Specific tasks the Career Management Administrator will carry out:

  • Assist and support the Career Management Department in administering a varied work force, consisting of military and civilian personnel.
  • Act as front of house contact for visitors to the department, signposting to the relevant team member where needed
  • Initiate, monitor and maintain all annual reports using an internal system (Joint Personnel Administrator
  • JPA).
  • Maintain accurate and relevant job specifications for military and civil service personnel.
  • Assist in the compilation of reports, returns and preparation for appraisal meetings.
  • Maintain the master workforce spreadsheet and reporting spreadsheet
  • Maintain the Career Management SharePoint and Defence Connect sites, including monitoring content.
  • Carry out general office administration tasks to include but not limited to; stationary ordering, conference room bookings, IT maintenance issues.
